How to Make Your Sun Shade as Secure as Possible
Let’s be real, the British weather is very rarely cooperative. Because our sun shades are designed to quickly click on and off of your buggy for convenience everyday, they can sometimes feel a little vulnerable to sudden gusts of wind.
If you have ever found yourself adjusting the canopy on breezy days, then don’t worry, you’re not alone. When chatting with families, we always love to share this super simple trick to get the best possible grip
🔄 The Locking Anchors – The Key to a Secure Fit
If you have a look at where your sun shade attaches to the buggy frame. You will see four circular black fittings. These are your locking anchors.
What many parents don’t realise is that these anchors are actually fully adjustable. By simply rotating them, you can increase the friction and tighten the grip against the frame. This tiny adjustment can help you to keep your sun shade locked into position easily.
To get the best grip:
- Remove the sun shade from your buggy.
- At each of the four locking anchors, rotate the anchors in small movements
- Work through all four points. The shade should feel noticeably tighter once all four are properly tensioned
- Give the shade a gentle tug to test the hold before heading out

🔄 The New O-Ring Design – Extra Security at the Lower Anchors
The latest sun shade design uses a combination of clips and O-rings to create a secure fit around the buggy frame.
The two upper fittings still clip directly onto the top locking anchors as normal. At the bottom, the O-rings stretch around the lower anchors instead of clipping into place. This helps to keep the lower section of the shade secure while allowing a little flexibility during fitting.
To fit the new design:
- Attach the two upper clips to the top locking anchors.
- Pull each O-ring down towards the lower anchors.
- Stretch the O-ring carefully around the outside of the lower anchor until it sits securely in place.
- Repeat this on both sides, making sure the shade is positioned evenly.
- Give the shade a gentle tug to check that the upper clips and lower O-rings are fully secure before heading out.
Avoid pulling the O-rings further than necessary, as they only need to stretch enough to sit around the lower anchors.
💨 Wind: What to Expect and How to Manage It
Our sun shades are fantastic for bright days and light breezes. However, because of their shape, they can sometimes act a bit like a sail. In strong or gusty winds, the force of the weather can overcome even a perfectly tensioned clip.
Our tip: If the weather turns blustery, we would highly recommend switching to your rain cover. Because the rain cover wraps fully around the buggy, it is far more wind-resistant. It will keep your child perfectly comfortable and protectable in changeable weather, without you having to worry about a runaway canopy.
✅ Quick Tips Summary
- Always rotate the four locking anchors to their firmest grip position before use
- Check that all four points are fully clipped against the frame before setting off.
- Give the shade a tug before setting off to confirm it’s secure
- In strong or gusty winds, switch to the rain cover for better protection
